As far as I’m concerned it’s a perfect package for a grown up divorced enthusiast. Enough room for the fearless pilot and three buddies to go to a party and enough for a long road trip for him and his romantic co-pilot. Or to pick up the kids for the weekend. Not enough room for the ex or the mountains of things she used to always take with her, thank God.
The key fob issue is a little odd and inconvenient. On the other hand, good or bad, it’s one of the many things that set VW’s apart. You always know you’re driving a VW. It feels different and you are aware of it every time you touch the car’s controls, sit in it or drive it. Within seconds of opening the door, the car becomes a part of you. A true driver’s car.
The R is refined, with good ride, excellent handling, grip and brakes. It is subtle enough not get the gendarmes too angry when you blast by. What else can you ask for?
