Pagani Huayra |
Ah! The rare pleasure of being alone and doing what you want! A fresh copy of Car and Driver in my hand, a cold beer near by, on a sunny October Sunday on my balcony! Does it get any better?
Hardly!
But wait, what is this car? A Pagani? Who is responsible for this outrage? This is the sexiest thing this side of Angelina Jolie's Lara Croft!
Horacio Pagani came to Italy from Argentina in 1982 and made his fortune in carbon fiber, first with Lamborghini and then working for the military.
He is 57 and obviously from a generation that was passionate about cars. Who else would engineer and build such an outrageous and emotionally striking car? Chrysler? Not likely.
This extraordinary machine is as removed from the car industry's mambo jumbo, as Forrest Gump is from The Transformers. This machine (and I hesitate to call it a machine) goes right to the core of every enthusiast's deepest desires.
Mr. Pagani just went out and built a car of his dreams without asking anyone for a second opinion! It's a piece of art right down to the every single detail.
Just as I was settling in to be comfortable with the rationality of diesel-equipped German family sedans, first Ferrari hits me with the new F12berlinetta and now this!
