Ottawa Police show again how they are "working together for a safer community".

As we empower our police forces with more new laws that limit our freedoms in the name of safety, the stories of police abusing their powers continue to pour in.

It's been obvious to me for years that if the cops have no respect for the motoring public, they likely have no respect for an average citizen either.

Marian Andrzejewski, a Polish-born painter whose work has been featured at the Canadian War Museum, was beaten by two thugs after they burst through the door of his 14th-floor public housing unit in October 2010.

Mr. Andrzejewski, 74 , managed to call 911, but the police didn't come to help him and helped the attackers instead. He was charged with unlawful confinement and sexual assault, and spent 75 days waiting for a bail hearing before a jury found him not guilty.
